Pyxo is a startup created in 2019 which works with restaurants and manages their pool of connected reusable containers, ensuring their tracking all along the supply chain with connection to logistics companies, collectors and washing facilities. With this data it pilots stocks and operations and is the interface with consumers relating to deposits, information and reward.
Customers must simply borrow a reusable container in a restaurant with the Pyxo app and return it to a nearby collector or restaurant after use. For smaller scale companies, payment is due if containers are not returned after a set amount of time (between 6-14 days), varying across regions and depending on the establishment.
Pyxo also functions on a reward system, allowing consumers to earn points that can then be converted to discounts or donated to an organization. They also allow consumers to own their own containers and incentivize their reuse through this reward system.
These containers are either made out of glass or reusable plastic (PET & Triton) and can be used on average between 200 and 300 times.
Pyxo works with brands such as Sodexo, McDonald’s France (1570 restaurants), Amrest (Sushi Shop, Pizza Hut), Delineo, Boulangeries Ange as well as around 150 independent restaurants. Restaurants use an average of 500 containers a day, so this reusable solution contributes to reducing the number of disposables in the takeaway industry.
